Montly Reset Check list – 13 Things To Do At The End Of Every Month

Why do you need to have a solid end-of-month routine?

Well, for starters, time flies faster than we realize! One minute it’s the start of the month, and before you know it, you’re staring at your calendar wondering where all the days went.

And honestly, that’s why having a few go-to things to do at the end of every month makes such a big difference. It helps you reflect, reset, and prepare for what’s ahead — instead of just rushing into another month unprepared.

In all honesty, there isn’t one magical trick that’ll keep your life organized, but small consistent habits that add up over time.

You might not have a perfect system yet (I didn’t either when I started!), but if you start today, you’ll thank yourself later.

So let’s go through some simple things to do at the end of every month that’ll make your next one smoother and more productive!

13 Things To Do At The End Of Every Month

1. Review Your Month

I’ve learned that taking a few minutes to review my month makes a huge difference. It helps me see what went well, what didn’t, and what I can do better next time. You’d be surprised how much clarity you get just by sitting down with a notebook and reflecting.

I like to ask myself simple questions like, “What am I proud of this month?” and “What drained my energy?” It’s not about being too hard on yourself but it’s all about understanding your habits and patterns.

Here’s a little tip that always works for me. Start with writing down three wins, two lessons, and one thing you want to improve next month. This small routine keeps you grounded and gives you direction. And trust me, once you make it a habit, you’ll start every new month with a clearer, more confident mindset.

2. Make a Memory List

Numerous times I’ve heard people say things like,

“Ugh, this month just flew by and I don’t even remember what I did!” or “Nothing special really happened.”

Well… maybe that’s true, but I’ve realized that every month has little moments worth remembering and you just have to notice them. That’s where making a Memory List comes in. It’s not about big events or grand achievements; it’s about the small wins, random laughs, and quiet moments that made your month special.

IN SHORT – A Memory List helps you slow down and appreciate the life you’re living instead of letting it blur by.

There’s no perfect way to make one. You can write it down in your journal, phone notes, or even sticky notes on your wall. The idea is to capture things that made you smile or proud, no matter how small.

For example, I’ve started listing little things like “evening walks with my playlist,” “aced my presentation,” “my perfect solo date” or “had the best coffee with a friend.” It might sound simple, but when you look back, these memories remind you that your month was fuller and better than you thought.

3. Check In With Yourself

This is because most of the time you’re so focused on getting things done that you forget to pause and check in with yourself. You go through the same motions, i.e, study, work, scroll, repeat, without really asking how you feel about any of it.

Especially when you’re chasing goals or managing a busy schedule, it’s easy to push your emotions aside. I’ve done it too, kept going even when I was mentally drained, just because I thought taking a break would slow me down.

Surprisingly, when I finally stopped to reflect, I realized how important it is to actually listen to myself. Some days I’m doing great, other days I just need to rest and that’s okay.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed or disconnected, I’d advise you to take a few minutes each week to check in. Write down how you’re feeling, what’s been on your mind, and what you might need more of. It can be sleep, quiet, fun, or motivation. In the end, you’ll feel more balanced and in tune with yourself.

4. Set Intentions for the New Month

As I mentioned earlier, starting a new month can feel a bit uncertain, and sometimes you might not even know if the goals you set will actually work out. And that’s exactly why setting clear intentions is so important.

The main reason some people feel productive and fulfilled each month, while others drift through without focus, is the difference in clarity and purpose.

Setting intentions for the new month is not just writing down random tasks. If you don’t know what you want to focus on, it’s easy to get distracted and lose momentum before the month even properly begins.

Take a moment to accept it.

It’s easy to let the days slip by without direction. I too struggled with this for months when I first started blogging. I remember my first income report from this blog – it wasn’t much, but for me, it felt like a huge achievement. It showed that all the late nights and hard work were actually paying off, and it motivated me to keep going.

Let’s start! My goal from the start of October is to add 20 articles and be consistent with my blog for the coming season. I want to keep growing, learning, and sharing, just like I did when I celebrated that first small but meaningful milestone.

If you’re just starting out or feeling stuck, take a look at my first income report. It’s proof that small progress adds up and that consistency really pays off. Setting intentions gives you the roadmap to make it happen.

5. Plan a Self-Care Session For Relaxation

Maybe you’ll feel completely drained by the end of the month.

Along with managing your goals and staying consistent, there are certain days when you feel super productive and energized, and other days when even getting out of bed feels like a struggle. Life and work are funny like that.

At some point, you might question everything. It can be your routines, your plans, or even your motivation. One day a self-care idea might sound amazing, and the next day it feels impossible to fit in.

It happens more times than you think, if you ask me.

It’s just a NORMAL part of life, nothing to stress over. So if you’re feeling at rock bottom or just burnt out, don’t worry. It’s only a phase, and taking care of yourself will help you bounce back stronger.

That’s why planning a self-care session at the end of the month is so important. Even small things like a face mask, a warm bath, or reading your favorite book can make a huge difference.

6. Go on a Solo Date

Going on a solo date isn’t just about spending time alone. It’s about reconnecting with yourself and enjoying your own company. Most people think of dates as something you do with someone else, but a solo date lets you focus on you, your thoughts, your interests, and your happiness.

This is why I think solo dates are a goldmine for self-discovery and mental peace. When you spend intentional time alone, you learn what truly makes you happy, without any outside noise or pressure.

But as simple as that may sound, a lot of people still struggle to do it. Especially if you’re used to being surrounded by friends, family, or coworkers all the time, the idea of doing something by yourself can feel a little awkward at first.

For me, the perfect summer solo date is going for a long walk along the downtown Vancouver Waterfront with a cup of Starbucks Caramel Macchiato (a must try drink) that costs me less than six dollars. It feels good, refreshing, and doesn’t break the bank. Check out my top Starbucks drink recommendations if you need ideas for your next coffee treat.

Try a fall solo date where you enjoy a warm drink and the colorful leaves, or a winter solo date with hot chocolate and a quiet movie night at home.

Your solo time doesn’t have to be fancy. What matters is that it’s yours, a small pocket of peace that helps you slow down and enjoy your own company.

7. Set New Goals

Setting new goals is one of those things that truly changed the way I approach each month, especially with my blogging journey. I still remember when I first started. I would post whenever I felt like it without any real plan or direction. Some months I’d be super motivated, while other times, I’d barely get anything done. But once I started setting clear goals, everything shifted. I finally knew what I was working toward, and that gave me both focus and consistency.

For me, creating goals is more than just writing down big dreams on paper. It’s about turning those dreams into small, actionable steps that actually push you closer to success. At the start of each month, I like to sit down with my planner and write what I want to accomplish. Maybe it’s publishing 20 new blog posts, learning new Pinterest strategies, or improving my website traffic. Seeing it all written out makes it real, and suddenly the month feels organized instead of overwhelming.

I’ve realized that setting goals isn’t about pressure. It’s about giving yourself a roadmap. Each small win builds confidence and reminds you that progress takes time but always pays off. So, grab your notebook or open your digital planner and write down your goals for the month. Trust me, once you start, you’ll feel more grounded, focused, and ready to take on anything, just like I did when I began setting mine.

8. Do a Financial Check-In

I’ve talked a lot about staying consistent with blogging and setting clear goals, but one thing I’ve learned that truly keeps everything on track is doing a regular financial check-in. It’s something I started taking seriously once my blog began to grow and I realized how easy it is to lose track of income and expenses when things get busy.

At first, I used to just glance at my bank balance and think I was doing fine. But that doesn’t really help you understand where your money is going or how it’s working for you. Now, at the end of each month, I take time to review everything — blog income, expenses, savings, and even my small daily purchases. It’s like a quick reset that helps me see if I’m living within my means and following my budgeting goals.

I remember the first time I did a proper financial check-in after I started blogging and I WAS SHOCKED to see how much I was spending on things that didn’t really add value to my life. That’s when I started embracing frugal living tips and learning how to live within my means without feeling restricted. I also created a list called 15 Things I Stopped Buying to Save More Money, which honestly made a big difference in how I manage my finances.

If you haven’t tried it yet, start simple. List your income, expenses, and savings goals for the month. Use small budgeting hacks like automating savings or cutting unnecessary subscriptions. Doing this every month keeps you financially aware and gives you peace of mind knowing exactly where your money is going.

It doesn’t matter if you’re a student, a creator, or just trying to save a little extra. A monthly financial check-in helps you stay in control and move closer to your bigger goals, one smart decision at a time.
